Children pick design for new play area

New playground: Children living in the Boultham Park area will be able to enjoy a new play area, picked by local pupils.

The play area in Boultham Park will get a new look, picked by local school children.

Over 100 pupils from Sir Francis Hill Primary School voted for one of three designs on November 22.

The most popular design (pictured) will cost the City of Lincoln Council £80,000, and will be installed by play equipment company Wickstead.

Not only will the existing play area be rebuilt, but there will be more equipment added to the area by the zip-wire especially made for teenagers.

Councillor Alister Williams said: We’re really pleased that the children chose the final design for the new play equipment at Boultham Park.

“[…] The park is for them and they know the type of equipment they like and the things that will make the play area really special.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the play area built so the children can enjoy playing there.”

The play area will be completed in spring 2011, to reduce damage to the grass and allow the current park to be used.

The Council recently revamped the play area in Hartsholme Country Park.
