TV chef cooks from leftovers in Lincoln

Valuable food: A celebrity chef will be at Lincoln Farmers Market to promote using up food leftovers.

A TV chef will be dropping in on Lincoln Farmers’ Market on Wednesday, November 10, to launch the Love Food, Hate Waste campaign in the county.

Lincolnshire Waste Partnership and WRAP have partnered to tackle the problem of the 8.3 tonnes of leftover food put in UK bins every year.

Head chef Richard Fox and his team will be holding cooking demonstrations, showing people how to cook with their leftovers.

Fox will be at the Farmers’ Market in the City Square from 10.30am to 4pm.

Sustainability and Climate Change Team Leader Doug Robinson hope the event will promote using up more food:

“The Love Food, Hate Waste campaign and its cooking demonstrations will give us all fascinating information and recipes, designed to save time, money and put some great meals on our tables.

“Much of the food we throw away is perfectly edible.  We can all learn how to ‘cook once, eat twice’, create ‘rescue recipes’, and freeze and re-use.

“We’re thrilled to have Richard Fox in the county to help launch this exciting campaign.”
