Batemans brews birthday beer for Co-op

Birthday Beer: Lincolnshire Co-operative and Batemans Brewery have teamed up to create a special birthday beverage.

Lincolnshire Co-operative and Batemans Brewery have teamed up to create a birthday beverage, to mark the Co-op’s 150th birthday.

The Big Birthday Beer, a 500ml bottle priced at £1.50, is sold across 70 of the county’s Co-op food stores.

The ale is part of the Local Choice range, so members will also receive five times more dividend points on their purchases.

Nicola Berry, Supply Chain Manager at Lincolnshire Co-op, said: “Batemans Brewery has a long history of supplying fine ales to our foodstores and this is a great example of us working together with a local supplier on an exclusive product.

“We hope that lots of our customers take the chance to join in with our 150th celebrations by raising a glass of the Big Birthday Beer.”

Batemans Brewery was established in 1874 and the family-run firm produces a range of multi-award winning beers.

Director Stuart Bateman said fans of the brewery’s Combined Harvest and Summer Swallow would enjoy the Big Birthday Beer.

“It’s a full-flavoured golden ale, freshly hopped, with a biscuity taste. We’re really happy with it and we think Lincolnshire Co-op customers will be as well,” he said.

Lincolnshire Co-operative has around 198,000 members in Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and Newark and employs more than 2,700 staff.
